Kondor died in Ba'Qubah, Iraq when an apparent improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 63rd Armor Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, Vilseck, Germany. Died on April 29, 2004.
Martin just began his senior year in Eastern York High School when the 911 attack happened. He came that night and said, "We have been attacked on our sovereign soil, and I am going to do something about it." Martin joined the Army, trained as a tanker and while in Germany, volunteered for a Personal Security Detachment that was guarding then Colonel Dana Pittard.
Martin enjoyed the outdoors and had an enjoyable sense of humor. He was easy going with a strong duty to protect this nation. "He toiled for peace but was nevertheless a man of action from whom no fears could turn from the path of action", Winston Churchill. This was Martin.
Beloved son. Never Forgotten. His death inspired York Pennsylvania's Gold Star Garden.
